My New Addiction: Amrapali Jewelry

Amrapali Jewels is a global, luxury jewelry brand based in Jaipur, India. Founded in 1978 by Rajiv Arora and Rajesh Ajmera, two friends inspired by their deep reverence for India’s tribal jewelry and artifacts. They opened their first shop in Jaipur, and named it Amrapali, after a legendary Indian courtesan who was famed to be the most beautiful woman in the world. Four decades later, Amrapali has 38 locations throughout India; and in London, a flagship store in Knightsbridge as well as shop-in-shops at both Harrods and Selfridges. Today, Amrapali’s future remains with the family, as Rajiv’s son Tarang Arora and his wife Akanksha Arora are Co-CEO and Creative Directors.

I’m always interested in the process and love learning about craftsmanship (especially when tied to historic preservation), so I had to include the videos.. 🙂
