tracee ellis ross is “black-ish” in her new ABC sitcom {watch the trailer}…

i like tra, so i’m rooting for a win! how great would it be to have a well-written, non-stereotypical, african-american, family oriented sitcom? 😉 exactly…

According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC announced today that the “Black-ish” pilot has been picked up for its 2014-15 roster.

The comedy loosely based on the life of The Game writer, Kenya Barris, sees Anderson as an “upper-middle-class black man who struggles to raise his children with a sense of cultural identity despite constant contradictions from his liberal wife, old-school father and his own assimilated, color-blind kids.”

Ross is set to play alongside Anderson as his liberal wife who constantly contradicts his ideas about cultural identity.

Laurence Fishburne will executive produce the project, also appearing in a reoccurring role as Anderson’s old-school father.

“I decided to do this project when I looked up and realized that everywhere I go I’m constantly the fly in buttermilk… I’m usually THE Black guy at work. We’re THE Black family in the neighborhood. My kids are basically THE Black kids at school. I think it’s kind of a situation of be careful what you wish for. It’s almost in like moving on up, I’ve sort of priced myself ‘out’ of being Black.” says Barris

“Black-ish” will air Wednesdays at 9:30|8:30c this Fall on ABC
